Alex Battles is a country singer and songwriter, and the leader of The Whiskey Rebellion, a country band based in Brooklyn, NY.

Originally from Chesterland, OH, Battles writes country songs by turns funny and bittersweet on his grandfather's tenor banjo. His influences are John Prine, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and Tom T. Hall. He is also the editor of Bob Dylan's Coffee Table, a blog about his favorite songwriters. Battles has written a respectable 113 songs himself. Some press clips are available here.

Battles is the founder and host of such events as the the Brooklyn Country Music Festival, The CasHank Hootenanny Jamboree, & The Johnny Cash Birthday Bash. Check out brooklyncountrymusic.com for more details on these events.
